Finding a Lawyer

Colorado Bar Association Licensed Lawyer.  You can search by practice area, location, county, languages spoken, and keyword.

Larimer County Bar Association.  Provides information regarding the professional association for lawyers in Larimer County.

The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.  The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers consists of more than 1600 leading family law practitioners nationwide. Their website allows visitors to search for Academy Fellows by location and also offers a link to the Academy’s online library that features the Academy’s journal and newsletter as well as selected publications and articles organized by topic.  There are no Fellows currently in northern Colorado.

Colorado Legal Services.  Colorado Legal Services provides legal information and community referrals.  Choose Legal Information, then Family and Children to review information and instructions.

Access To JusticeThe Colorado Access to Justice Commission is an independent entity formed with the support of the Colorado Supreme Court, the Colorado Bar Association and the Statewide Legal Services Group in 2003.  The 8th Judicial District (Larimer County and Jackson County) Access to Justice Committee has an Access to Justice Resources PDF with a list of resources both with income eligibility required and no income eligibility required.   

Court Resource Center.  The Court Resource Center is available to assist self-represented or Pro Se Parties involved in legal proceedings in the 8th Judicial District (Larimer County and Jackson County).  The primary Court Resource Center for Larimer County is in Fort Collins on the first floor of the Larimer County Justice Center, next to the Clerk of Court Office, at 201 Laporte Avenue, Fort Collins, Colorado.  To arrange an appointment at the Loveland Courts location, contact the Court Resource Center directly.  The Self-Represented Litigant Coordinator is on staff at the Court Resource Center to provide parties without attorneys free procedural information and will also assist in completing forms.  The staff can answer questions about forms, the legal system, court procedure and court processes but CANNOT provide legal advice. Public access computers are available for research and completing forms.

Family Law Tools and Worksheets

Child Support Worksheets. Family Law Software provides a child support calculator to produce electronic, printable child support worksheets.  You should use this software to calculate child support based upon the Colorado Child Support Guidelines.

Maintenance Calculation.  Family Law Software provides a maintenance calculator to calculate maintenance.  You should use this software to calculate maintenance based upon the Colorado Maintenance Guidelines.

Colorado Family Law Links

Colorado Revised Statutes.  Provides free public access to the Colorado Statutes Annotated.  After reviewing the terms and conditions, choose Colorado Revised Statutes.  Title 13, Section 14 is Court and Court Procedures, Protection Orders, Title 14 is Domestic Matters, and Title 18 is the Children’s Code (i.e. dependency and neglect, paternity, relinquishment and adoptions).

Senior Law Handbook.  Chapters 13 and 14 provides information regarding family relationships, grandparents’ and great-grandparents’ visitation rights,allocation of parental responsibilities of others over a child, getting your divorce without a lawyer, use of former name, anticipating marriage, marriage and public benefits, protection from family violence, common law marriage and other resources.
